This splendid map of Scotland is by John Speed. Based on Mercator's map of 1595 it shows the map of Scotland as known at that time. There is a small inset in the top right hand corner of the Isles of Orkney while the map is bordered by sketches of King James I of England & VI of Scotland and Prince Henry on one side and Queen Anne and Charles, Duke of York on the other.

Edinburgh c1864. Drawn and engraved by G.H.Swanson this town plan of Edinburgh and Leith shows exceptional detail. Buildings are finely drawn with important buildings such as the castle displayed in block ink. The early railways, along with all roads are named. At the top of the plan there is the Firth of Forth along with its piers, harbour and docks. At the bottom of the map even the smallest of residences of Morningside are detailed and in many cases named.
